Over a century ago, a plague struck Tai O. Guided by a divine dream, fishermen rowed dragon boats at night to gather deity statues from temples, parading them through waterways to pacify spirits—successfully ending the epidemic. This legend embodies Tai O’s spirit of mutual help and unity. This exhibition explores the ritual’s deeper meanings—human connections with nature, community, and the spiritual—through multimedia such as models, artifacts, photographs, videos, and texts. We invite you to appreciate and help sustain this living tradition. There is also a parent-child workshop on folding paper dragon boat, enabling cross-generational learning about this unique Hong Kong cultural tradition.
