Round-basket New Year cakes of the Hakka people's tradition is made by steaming for long hours the processed glutinous rice flour wrapped with plant leaves held in a round bamboo basket. Two years ago, the Santau Village Farm Life Gallery in Lantau collaborated with local villagers to revive this almost lost tradition, making the rice cake for worshipping ancestors and serving as Chinese New Year delicacies for families. This year, a workshop is arranged for the public to make this Hakka New Year cakes for their families. Don't miss it!
